On Monday, Carrie and I went to a day trip to Hanmer Springs, a small little place that is famous for its "Spa" and the hot springs. That was already a really nice day, nice ride through the countryside in a minivan, just us two and the driver / Reisefuehrerin. In the morning we were Hanmer Springs in the maze (the medium or hard if you like Carrie ((and now I)) does the trick for all mazes), noon barbecue / picnic in the sun and the Afternoon, then splashing in the spa. But we are such a Wahnsinnsglueck with the weather, the sun were tired, so we finally just more than an hour in a bikini were (of course reading) on the green meadow. summer! I had practically forgotten already how great something can feel!
Yes, and then came right back on Wednesday with the strong contrast: for a rainy day at Lake Tekapo with sleet, we were at Mt Cook - walk in the snow! winter!
But Mt Cook was overall very cool. Said Wednesday just snow and fog ... Looking out the bus window and the guide explains one: "In this direction about is Mount Cook, at all, we are now surrounded by many, mighty mountains." Looking outside: all gray. Ahhhh, yes.
But then Thursday we had a real lucky: the sun is shining, the snow is on the slopes (and our feet on the way to Kea Point) sparkled only pretending. Genial! And we really have seen Mt Cook! ,-P's photo evidence, of course, this time finally wakes up with a couple of long Squee from its winter sleep.
